Rights Protection Activities

For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law.

Holly Bible. Letter of St. Paul to the Romans, 2,12

Rendering free legal and juridical services to the socially vulnerable layers of population and the non-governmental organizations in the Republic of Armenia (RA), is the base of the rights protection activities of the Sakharov Center, which allows to:

  1. Prepare appropriate suggestions aimed at bettering the RA legislation on the basis of the revealed cases, which expose the imperfectness and contradictions in many legislative acts, norms and standards, practical application of which is conductive to violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms.
  2. Reveal civic cases of big social significance and implement the advocacy of those, results of the court studies of which could serve as precedence in the sphere of human rights and freedoms defense.
  3. Realize the protection of the rights and freedoms of individuals in an extrajudicial order at the central and regional bodies of government, and the local self-government.
  4. Provide legal and juridical services for the citizens, to the extent of representing them and protecting their interests at all of the instances of the civic legal procedures of the RA.
  5. Through mass media, inform the society about the most “typical” cases of fundamental human rights and freedoms violations in the RA.
