Syunik Regional Branch Programs

Projects Implemented by the Syunik Regional Branch of the A.D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Center  

  • Provide free legal consultations and juridical services to the most vulnerable layers of the population in Syunik marz. The project aimed at the protection of the citizens’ rights. It was implemented with the support of the US “National Endowment for Democracy” organization, from February 3, 1997 to September 30, 2005.

  • “Legal and Juridical Assistance to the Syunik marz Refugees in the Process of Naturalization” project goal was to provide legal and juridical assistance at the processes of naturalization and integration of the Syunik marz refugees. The project was implemented with the support of the UNHCR Yerevan office, from April 3, 2000 to December 31, 2004.

  • “Monitoring of the First Instance Court Work Conditions” project goal was to implement a monitoring of the first instance court work conditions and develop a report. The project was implemented with the support of the OSCE Yerevan office, from July 1, 2001 to October 31, 2001.

  • “Training on How to Implement Human Rights Protection and Human Rights Monitoring Activities” project aimed at supporting the strengthening of the human resources of the Sakharov Center Syunik Branch by increasing the number of the volunteers with aware, active and professional members, as well as enriching the knowledge and skills when carrying out elucidative activities among the beneficiaries. The project was implemented with the support of the WorldLearning/Armenia organization, form September 1, 2001 to August 30, 2002.

  • “A Step Toward Your Future” project goal was to assist in the fair, free and transparent elections at the RA Presidential and National Assembly elections in 2003 by awareness raising activities on the civic activity and electoral processes among the refugees obtained RA citizenship and living in Syunik marz communities mainly resided by refugees (Alvank, Vardanidsor, Lehvaz, Syunik, Barikavan, Yegheg, Khalaj, Dastakert, Vorotan, Aghitu, Shaqi). The project was implemented with the support of the WorldLearning/Armenia organization, from February 1, 2003 to June 30, 2003.

  • “Citizen of the 21st Century” project aimed at formation of the youth’s worldview based on the fundamental human rights and freedoms by organizing training with collaborative teaching methods on the “Human Rights” subject for the high school students of the five public schools in the cities of Goris and Sisyan. The project was implemented with the support of the “Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation - Armenia” organization, from January 15, 2004 to July 15, 2004.

  • “Local Democracy Development” project goal was to assist in the development of the Shaqi, Syunick, Yegheg, Khalaj, Vardanidsor, Alvanq communities’ (resided by refugees) local-government structures – the Councils of Elderly as an institution of local democracy through raising the awareness of the members of the Councils of Elderly and raising the level of public participation in the local self-governance processes. The project was implemented with the support of the US Embassy, from October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006.

  • “Civil Society School” project goal was to assist in the capacity building for the beginner NGOs in the marz. The project was implemented with the support of the ICCO organization, from October 1, 2004 to September 30, 2006.

  • “Human Rights Protection through Strengthening the NGOs” project aimed at the human rights protection by rendering free legal and juridical assistance. The project is being implemented by the support of the “Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation - Armenia” organization, from October 1, 2006 until September 30, 2007.
