 Definition
The A. D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Centre is an independent, non-political and non-profit NGO.
The A. D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Centre is an assignee of the Sakharov Armenian Foundation for Progress, Protection of Human Rights and Charity, which was established according to the Decision of the Council of Ministers of the Armenian SSR No. 457 of 9 September 1990.
Registration
The A. D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Centre registered by the RA Ministry of Justice on 26 December 1997 (Certificate No. 414), reregistered on 21 January 2000 (Resolution No. 167) and 14 July 2006 No. 211.04085.
Framework
Besides the Central Office in the city of Yerevan there are three branches of the A. D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Centre in the marzes of the Republic of Armenia. They are as follows:
- The Shirak Regional Branch in the city of Giumry which started working in the first half-year of 1996;
- The Gegharkoonik Regional Branch in the city of Gavarh which started working in the second half-year of 1996, and
- The Siunik Regional Branch in the city of Goris which started working in the first half-year of 1997.
The Regional Branches of the A. D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Centre were registered by the RA Ministry of Justice on 20 August 2003 and issued with the Certificates Nos. 01B000564, 01B000565 and 01B000566 accordingly.
Location of Activities
The A. D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Centre together with its Regional Branches covers the city of Yerevan, the marzes of Shirak, Gegharkoonik, Siunik, Aragatzotn and several localities of the marz of Lory with its activities.
Mission
To support the building of civil society and the development of democratic institutions in the Republic of Armenia.
